How To Find Hot Products For Your Amazon Wholesale Business?
The Four Point Checklist
1. The product has an average selling price of at least $20
This is a general rule of thumb because these products usually have more room for profit. It’s possible to have success with cheaper products, but that requires much more knowledge and experience.
2. The product is NOT sold by Amazon
It’s virtually impossible to compete with Amazon on any product. So, if Amazon is a seller, simply rule that product out as a prospect. We do this first to save us time on any further analysis.
3. The brand owner is NOT the only seller
Products with less than 3 sellers are generally a waste of time for one reason or another. It should be stated that the maximum number of sellers on a product doesn’t necessarily matter, but less than 3 is a no go.
4. Sales equity of at least 20 units per month
Sales Equity: How many sales YOU would generate per month. Eliminate any products that you wouldn't earn a minimum of 20 sales per month.
After checking the 4 criteria for awesome products above, the following steps allow you to estimate your monthly total unit sales and profit.
The Formula
STEP 1: Best Seller Rank
Find the Best Seller Rank and Product Category on the product page in the product information section. Copy the rank and move to step 2.
STEP 2: Amazon Sales Estimator
Use SmartScout, Helium 10’s free Amazon chrome extension or Jungle Scout sales estimator, select the appropriate product category, and paste the rank into the calculator. Your result is the estimated number of times that product sells each month.
STEP 3: Buy Box
Go back to the product page and find the buy box. Record the price in the buy box.
STEP 4: Calculate Profit
Now it’s time to see how much money you can make on this product. First, simply add one to the total competitive sellers to include yourself. Second, divide the Jungle Scout Estimated monthly sales from earlier by the new number of competitive sellers. This will tell you how many units you can expect to sell every month! Third, multiply that by the buy box price. This tells you how much revenue you’ll make. Lastly, multiply that revenue by 0.15 to estimate your profit! It’s that easy. Keep in mind that this is a conservative profit estimation for most products.
How Much is The Wholesale Formula?
What is the formula for wholesale pricing, and how much can you make with it?
To estimate, you need to do some math. This part may overwhelm some people because you have to use the formula below to find out the profit potential.
Let's use a real-life example to find your potential earnings per month.
In this example, I'm going to show you:
"How to find products that can make you $9,490 every month"
Ok, here’s the most exciting part! You can find out exactly how much you can make by finding 4 numbers.
It might look a little daunting at first. But don’t worry, once you do it, it’s as easy as eating popcorn.
Let’s break it down:
This is how you can find the 4 numbers to calculate your monthly profit.
#1. Total Competitive Sellers: First, find out how many competitive sellers are selling the product. Then add 1 to include yourself. In this case, we see 3 other prime sellers beside yourself. So the first number is 4.
To make it super duper easy, you can also download the free chrome extension called “TWF Buy Box Scope BETA” which automatically gives you that number.
#2. Estimate of Units Sold Per Person. Using the free tool called Jungle Scout Estimation, you can easily find 7,680 units are being sold on Amazon in one month. Now divide 7,680 by 4 sellers, and you get the second number, 1,920.
#3. Monthly Sales. Now multiply that number of 1,920 units by the buy box price of $7.98. That’s $63,264, which is your third number.
#4. Your Profit. Using a super conservative estimate of 15% profit, the total profit you’re going to earn is $9,490, which is your final number.
So, using a conservative estimate of 15% profit, this one product alone could generate: $9,490 EVERY MONTH IN PROFIT.
Can you do 2, 3, 4 more products in a month? Of course, you can. But here's the better way to do it.

Who Created The Wholesale Formula?

With Private Label, when you are launching a new product, you are typically spending $10K+ on inventory because you need to buy 3-6 months worth of inventory at minimum, and then wait for it to be delivered from China which can take months. And after marketing expenses to get your product selling, it can be 6 months to a year before you ever turn a profit.
With wholesale, you are buying products domestically, and getting them listed, live and selling in a matter of days and turning a profit instantly.
Your profit margin with Wholesale is typically lower than Private Label, but you get profit back immediately and your cash flow is great.

15 - I've heard the profit margins with wholesale are small. Is this true?
Not at all. Wholesale margins can be as high as 50 to 100% Many of the products we currently carry have margins over 50%, but margins aren’t everything. Products with margins between 10 an 15% even make sense. It’s the combination of profit margins and how many units you can expect to sell over a period of time. You’ll learn how to build a portfolio of profitable products that you can keep reinvesting in to grow your profits month after month. Think about it.. If all you have to do is send an email or make a phone call to put in your order and the brand ships it in to Amazon for you and you get the sales, a 15% profit margin is pretty dang good for such a small amount of work.
16 - The buy box is terrifying. How do I know l’ll ever truly get a piece of it?
Sure, the buy box can seem scary at first. But the truth is pretty simple - you’ve just got to follow the right method to get control of it. The buy box is rotated among all the competitive sellers of the product so that everyone gets a piece of the pie or their portion of the sales. It’s mostly determined by selling price, among a few other variants we discuss inside TWF. If everyone is selling at the same price, sales are split pretty evenly amongst all those sellers. And if you’re providing real value to the brands with all your Amazon knowledge, they should be giving you better pricing than anyone else. So then you’ll have a price no one could compete with and get most, if not all of the sales. Plus, using our method, you may also get an exclusivity deal where the brand makes you the only seller allowed to sell their products on Amazon. In that case, you wouldn’t have to worry about competition and sharing the buy box at all.
17 - But if I don’t own the product, I can’t change the Amazon listing, right?
Actually no, this is a myth. Anyone with an Amazon Seller Central account can make changes to any product listing on Amazon.com. It’s really easy and we teach that inside The Wholesale Formula.
